Last year I put together a list of fashion pieces that I was coveting for the fall and winter (read that post here). Many of those items are still relevant this year (over-the-knee boots and ponchos anyone?), so there's not much to add for this year right? WRONG! Unfortunately my list of wants is always growing.
But since I'm pretty sure my mom is NOT going to be buying me a whole new set of "back to school" clothes (trust me, I asked), that means I have to take care of adding new pieces myself. And that means it has to be affordable. I'm guessing it's the same case for many of you. (And yes, I branched out a little from TJ Maxx.)
So here's my 2015 list of trendy yet affordable picks (and some actual links if you are inclined to buy) for the fall:
Plaid. Plaid scarves. Plaid oxfords. Plaid skirts. Plaid ponchos. Plaid plaid plaid! Nothing says fall more. Check out this plaid tunic from Old Navy, plaid skirt from TJ Maxx and plaid rain boots from TJ Maxx.
Gray nail polish. I am obsessing over gray Essie polish right now. If you pick the right shade, these are totally wearable day or night. Check out Essie's Cashmere Bathrobe (steel gray, far left); Chinchilly (taupe gray) and Petal Pushers (far right, blue gray) below. (Find all colors at essie.com or select colors at target.com and cvs.com.)
Backpacks. Every style eventually comes back around, right? This one I am excited about. And special bonus: this accessory comes with it's own theme song (click here). Below here's a vintage Coach backpack from ebay (Coach was the queen of the backpack back in the day) and a drawstring version from Fossil.
Wide leg pants. This includes jeans, work pants, and my current fave: gauchos. Go a little high waisted to give yourself a longer and leaner look. Unless of course you are naturally long and lean and you can wear a paper bag and still look great. But I digress. Here's a wide leg jean from 7 for all mankind, a wide leg dress pant from TJ Maxx and a gaucho from Target.
And for an added bonus here are some examples of how to wear your blanket scarf:
Don't be surprised if you see me around town sporting all of the above! Happy Fall!
