That’s What She Said 2.13.19
Hello! It’s been awhile. I’m back with a new attitude and new ways to boss y’all around!
“That’s What She Said (to read, watch, wear or listen to)” is The Bossy List re-branded and re-purposed (and also my favorite joke). It will be an overview of what I love during a particular week or month - things I think you NEED to know about. I’m not restricting myself to “5 things” - if I like 6, I’ll post 6. If I have one special item to gush over, I’ll just post one.
This week I’m focusing on things I love specifically for m’ ladies. Happy Galentine’s Day!
Real Housewives (Bravo)
Since we haven’t talked in awhile I want to ensure you that I am still 100% committed to the Real Housewives franchise on Bravo, in case you were worried. My adoration has not wavered; in fact, I now watch every city (I held out on Potomac and Atlanta, but am now fully on board). The latest seasons of Atlanta, New Jersey and, now, Beverly Hills are better than ever! Why do I love it so much? Is it the arguing, the money, the crazy clothes? Yes! All of it!
On the Basis of Sex (Focus Features)
Ladies! See this movie! On the Basis of Sex is based on the true story of Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG), her struggles for equal rights and the early cases of her historic career that lead to her nomination and confirmation as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. If you’ve seen the documentary RBG you will realize how accurate this movie portrays Ruth, as well as her supportive husband Marty. Do yourself a favor and see both.
In theaters now.
Origins Podcast with James Andrew Miller: Sex and the City
As Sex and the City celebrated its 20th anniversary late last year, James Andrew Miller, with his Origins podcast, shed a spotlight gave us a peek into the early days of the groundbreaking HBO series as well took us on a deep dive into the latest drama of why a third movie will NOT be happening (hint: it’s all Samantha’s fault). And also of note: the first four chapters of Origins podcast are also pretty interesting: they each focus on how other impactful people and institutions came to be (including Curb Your Enthusiasm, ESPN, Nick Saban and Saturday Night Live). But this chapter in particular - chapter five - is near and dear to my heart. Love love love. Find it wherever you find podcasts. I’m not your mother.
NYX Butter Gloss
I can’t remember where I heard about this gloss but I tried it, liked it, then bought some more and liked it even more. It’s glossy but not sticky and they have great nude shades. And the best part? You can buy it at CVS! My favorite shades right now are Creme Brulee and Fortune Cookie. Subtle but lovely, just like me (bah-hahaha).
Bytox Hangover Patches
Is your Galentine’s or Valentine’s plan to drink yourself silly? No judgement here! Just take some preventative steps to avoid the inevitable hangover that comes along with that. Bytox Hangover Patches to the rescue! Slap one of these babies on a hair-free patch of skin (shouldn’t be hard ladies) and drink your cares away. Vitamins and anti-oxidants will seep into your skin and protect you from the harsh elements you’re adding to your body. It’s a push. Buy here.
