The BOSSY List: 5 things you need to know this week 4.7.17

1. Get Out (Universal Pictures)
DO believe the hype: this movie is genius! It sets up as a horror movie then smacks you in the face with it's real message. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll scream. You have to see it.

2. Big Little Lies (HBO) finale, music and basically everything else
I know I listed this one before but I need to gush. Can I gush? I'm going to gush.

I loved everything about this (very) limited series from HBO. Wait, no, I lied. I didn't love everything: I hate that it was only 7 episodes! I want more! This was a treat from start to finish. I loved Reese. And Nicole. And Laura. And Zoe. And Shailene. And Adam. And Alexander. The list goes on. A great cast; a suspenseful plot; gorgeous scenery; violent secrets. And an A+ soundtrack to boot!

My point? Watch it. Read it. Listen to it.

3. NYX Eyebrow Powder Pencil
I'm going to give you a hot tip: eyebrows are important. Nice, full, defined brows are IN. You know how I know? Because mine suck. But there are ways to fix that! I like this pencil because a) it comes in a lot of shades and b) it's cheap. Give it a try. Buy here or at your favorite drug or beauty store.

4. 13 Reasons Why (Netflix)
Netflix's latest original series 13 Reasons Why is based on the best selling Jay Asher book of the same name that deals with the light subjects of high school suicide, sexual assault and bullying. I've read varying feedback about 13 Reasons Why since I binged watched all 13 episodes (did you expect anything less?): some say it failed to accurately portray the experiences of such a sensitive and important issue facing kids today; some say it was too long and drawn out and veered too far from the book; some say it is an important piece of work.

Either way: watch it. Whether you have kids (definitely watch) or not (still watch), you will come away devastated at and a little more clued in to what kids today go through and how oblivious the adults in their lives really can be. Even if it's not the "perfect" delivery of the message, it's still a great conversation starter, right? Plus it has a great soundtrack.

Once again:  Watch it. Read it. Listen to it.

5. S-Town Podcast (This American Life)
The next installment from the Serial and This American Life crew is S-Town, a podcast about an investigation into the son of a wealthy family from a small Alabama town who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. Chaos ensues.
